Dr. Claus Michelsen
Welcome to my website! I am Chief Economist at the German Association of research-based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa) and lecturer of Economics at Leuphana University Lueneburg.
Before I was head of the Forecasting and Economic Policy department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin), research fellow at the Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies (BCCP), Fellow at the Berlin Economic Research Associates Program (BERA), and lecturer at University of Potsdam and HTW Berlin.
My research covers various topics in applied urban and macroeconomics. I am interested in empirical economics, particularly housing and real estate, investment, financial market stability and forecasting.
In 2013, I received my doctoral degree in Economics from the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg were I also obtained my Master’s degree in Empirical Economics and Policy Advise. From the University of Erfurt I hold a Bachelor in Law, Economics and Social Science. I am a passionate mountain biker and alpinist.
